Unzip the installation .zip file into a directory on your hard drive

Right-click on the directory and select Properties
Ensure Read-only is unchecked

Ensure that NETWORK SERVICE has Modify, Read & Execute, Read and Write permission and click Apply

If the confirmation screen comes up, select apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files, and click OK

In IIS, right-click on the Web Sites node and select New > Web Site…

Configure the website…




Ensure that you allow Read, Run scripts and Execute permission


Note: in the Properties for the website in IIS, ensure that the ASP.NET version is 2.0 (or higher). Set it, then click Apply, then click OK.

In SQL Server (2005 or higher) create a new database

Create a user with db_owner permission

Navigate to the website in your web browser…

Clicking the setup link will launch the Installation Wizard






After it is set up you will be automatically logged in as the Super User.
Click Administrator Settings

In Administrator Settings, click Email Administration

Set-up the email settings. Click Update Settings before you test the email settings by clicking Send Test Email

In Administrator Settings, click File Upload Settings

Set the directory that any uploaded files will be stored in. Remember to test this. You can only store files in a directory that the account the website is running under has permission to Read, Write, and Modify.

In Administrator Settings, click User Registration

Set the desired settings

ADefHelpDesk is now set-up
