First, ensure that Internet Information Services (IIS) is installed correctly.
Go to the Control Panel
Select turn Windows Features on or off
Ensure that ASP.NET is enabled.
Unzip the ADefHelpDesk installation .zip file into a directory on your hard drive
Right-click on the directory and select Properties
Ensure Read-only is unchecked
Select the Security tab
Click the Edit button
Click the Add button
Enter NETWORK SERVICE in the Enter the object names to select box, click Check Names, then click OK
Ensure that NETWORK SERVICE has Modify, Read & Execute, Read and Write permission and click Apply
Then click OK
IIS (Web Server)
Click the Start button then type IIS in the Search box and press Enter
The Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager will start
Right-click on Application Pools and select Add Application Pool
Create an Application Pool called ADefHelpDesk.
Select .NET Framework v2.0.50727 for Framework version and Classic for Managed pipeline mode.
Right-click on the Application pool just created and select Advanced Settings...
Set the Identity to NetworkService
Make sure the Application Pool is started by right-clicking on it and selecting Start
Right-click on the Default Web Site and select Add Application.
Select the Physical Path to the directory you placed the files in.
Click the Select button to set the Application pool to ADefHelpDesk.
In SQL Server (2005 or higher) create a new database
Create a user with db_owner permission
Navigate to the website in your web browser…
Clicking the setup link will launch the Installation Wizard
After it is set up you will be automatically logged in as the Super User.
Click Administrator Settings
In Administrator Settings, click Email Administration
Set-up the email settings. Click Update Settings before you test the email settings by clicking Send Test Email
In Administrator Settings, click File Upload Settings
Set the directory that any uploaded files will be stored in. Remember to test this. You can only store files in a directory that the account the website is running under has permission to Read, Write, and Modify.
In Administrator Settings, click User Registration
Set the desired settings
ADefHelpDesk is now set-up
